Biography

Shay McNeal is a Kansas City native who studied Biomedical Science and Chemistry at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. During her time through college, she was an award-winning and published Researcher in the field of Scanning Electron Microscopy. Shay returned to the Kansas City area after graduating with her Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State to further pursue medicine through nursing at Rockhurst University and later her Master of Science in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner from Research College of Nursing. She has over 15 years of experience in emergency medical services, urgent care, acute inpatient hospital medicine, long-term care, geriatric medicine, and acute inpatient drug and alcohol addiction and detox specialty care. She is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Clinical TMS Society and serves as an advisory board member for several organizations specializing in substance use disorder and other mental health conditions. She has a passion for serving underrepresented populations and providing compassionate, fair, and comprehensive care to everyone she serves. She believes in access to honest, straightforward, and understandable medical services for all.

When away from work, she keeps busy with her six children, her husband, Dillard, and her cutie pie Australian Shepherd, Blue. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and provides community service to all mankind through their many programs. Traveling is her number one hobby, and she has plans to see a different country every year until retirement. She is currently learning French and hopes to live abroad once she kicks all her kids out of the house one day. Until then, Orange Theory Fitness, Marvel movies, and high heels bring smiles and good times.
