Life After Treatment: Why Continuum of Care Works

Every day, thousands of Kansans are fighting addiction and mental illness, and usually in private. If you or a loved one is navigating these turbulent waters, have hope: recovery is possible. We can do better, together, with the proper assistance and support.
The path to sobriety is not merely the avoidance of drugs; it is the adoption of a healthy and balanced way of living that can bring about sustained recovery, well-being, and general happiness in life.
At Midwest Recovery Centers, we truly care that every person’s recovery journey is personal. We have individualized programs specifically designed for you, your wants, and your struggles. Whatever difficulty you’re facing, whether alcoholism, opioid use disorder, or mental health, our in-depth and holistic program is here for you. We’re committed to assisting you in developing a strong foundation for long-term sobriety, so you’ll never be on this journey alone.
We must heal the whole person, not just the body, but the spirit, emotions, and psyche. To achieve recovery, it is necessary to take a holistic approach that deals with and provides for each aspect of an individual’s health. We do so in this manner so that all the elements receive their equal share of treatment, and a continuous process towards recovery is encouraged.
A Full Continuum of Care: From Detox to Sober Living
One of the cornerstones of Midwest Recovery Centers is our seamless recovery continuum. Unlike programs that address only one stage of recovery, we accompany our clients from start to finish through every critical phase of the healing journey. It really boosts the odds of enjoying long-term sobriety.
Our process starts with medical detox, where we help individuals withdraw from substances with no restrictions. This is done under 24/7 medical supervision, with registered nurses and staff available. The detoxification process is carefully managed to help ease any discomfort and ensure your safety during this important transition.
After detox, clients join our residential treatment program focused on deep healing. Our residential setting provides This supportive environment allows complete dedication to recovery. Semi-private rooms, welcoming therapy spaces, and fun recreational facilities—like a beautiful rock garden, pickleball, and basketball courts—create an inviting atmosphere that promotes healing and self-discovery.
As the patient’s journey goes on, they can avail themselves of either our transitional program or our intensive outpatient programs (IOP), which offer both the convenience and therapeutic direction they need. From this system, a patient can methodically re-enter daily living with assistance and supervision. Our outpatient treatment is designed with ongoing therapy, active group therapies, and ongoing follow-up for giving ongoing counseling that allows the patient to keep coping with daily challenges.
The last piece of our continuum is our supportive sobriety house program. These transitional living options bridge treatment and independent living. In our sobriety house, clients apply recovery principles among peers with similar goals. This environment nurtures a sense of accountability and encouragement, both of which are so important for achieving long-term sobriety.
Evidence-Based and Holistic Therapies That Heal the Whole Person
At our facility, we believe sobriety is not just stopping substance use; it’s the beginning of a journey to rebuild life. When asked, “What is sobriety?” we explain it as more than abstaining. Sobriety involves learning emotional regulation, repairing relationships, processing trauma, and cultivating a meaningful, wellness-oriented life.
Our treatment practices synthesize medical science with holistic strategies. For instance, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) are foundational to our practice. These therapy modalities assist clients in identifying and overcoming negative thoughts and in learning healthier modes of coping. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) assists individuals in redirecting behavior towards core values and in accepting and incorporating painful emotions.
We truly understand how important trauma is in our journey towards whole-person recovery. In our Mental Health Inpatient, we incorporate Somatic Experiencing (SE), an approach that gradually unloads trauma from the body. Our cutting-edge medication management includes DNA screening through pharmacogenomics, enabling us to individualize prescriptions to you. This customized approach minimizes side effects while optimizing medication effectiveness.
We offer state-of-the-art treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which is beneficial for depression or treatment-resistant disorders. The noninvasive treatment involves applying magnetic pulses to activate brain nerve cells that regulate mood. Many of our patients experience significant mental health improvement, particularly those who have not been responsive to traditional treatments.
Our treatment programs include yoga, mindfulness, creative writing, and art therapy, further solidifying the connection of mind and body. These modalities help individuals learn to control emotions and encourage self-awareness. Our nutrition counseling by certified dietitians also identifies the connection of gut health to brain health, recognizing that food selection has a powerful influence on mental stability and mood regulation.
We offer workout regimes led by personal trainers that assist in achieving physical strength, a better mood, and cultivating resilience, which are needed for supporting sobriety. Our exhaustive treatment plan supports the patient in realizing sobriety as not a mere condition of soberness but a balanced existence to support mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Family Involvement and Mental Health Integration
Healing isn’t just for the individual struggling; rather, it is intimately interwoven with family processes. Mental illness and substance use disorder recovery impacts not only the individual but also his or her entire family system. Knowing this, our programs are designed to actively engage the recovering individual’s loved ones.
Along with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Missouri, we are honored to offer a fulfilling 8-week educational support group. Family members can gain valuable knowledge and skills to help their loved ones recover while taking care of their emotional and mental health.
These Saturday family support sessions are from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. They are conducted in a closed group model, so participants work with the same group of family members from start to finish. This format allows for a warm and supportive setting where people feel comfortable discussing their challenges and building meaningful relationships with others who truly understand the complex emotions of caring for someone on their recovery journey.
At Midwest Recovery Centers, we incorporate mental health services into all treatment programs. Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and focused therapy for an array of conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar, and schizophrenia, are included in our services. We approach all areas of our clients’ care with a personalized approach. We understand that mental illness frequently presents with substance abuse; therefore, both issues need to be treated at the same time to set the stage for sustained recovery.
We use a compassionate dual-diagnosis model that provides co-occurring disorder patients with the entire range of treatment they need to cope with every part of their illness. This integrative approach has been demonstrated to increase recovery far more than dealing with mental illness and drug and alcohol dependency individually.
